The Heat is on... El turno del Miami Heat

A year ago I was hopping between Finals. One in Brickell, one in Sunrise. This year is only one and I am complaining. Not to the fact that the Panthers are in the Stanley Cup again or that in a strange behavior that is not inclusive to Spanish-Speaking journalists, they kept me out of it this year, my complaint is that the Miami Heat are not in the run this time.

We are getting used to it and we want it. We know we have good players, but we want to be there.

Let me sum it up...

We have the Best possible Coach, I even completed a doctoral dissertation on this subject, he is great.

We have the best possible president of the team, we have seen that through the years.

We have the best possible owners, they like to be in contention, not like the Marlins, to name a sad example.

But do we have the Best possible team?

I don't know.

I will speak as a fan, not a connoisseur, as fans we know we need one more guy, a player to shift the balance towards us. The experts, or those who claim to be such, tell us about a myriad mathematical projections, they explain aprons, and taxes and luxury... they don't get it, we don't care.

Give us the best possible team, you handle the money, after all, you are billionaires and your employees, meaning the players, make millions, so... get the best player, bring it here and win.

That is what we want, that is what we will care about.

That is what will make people pay the not so cheap tickets, and the sometimes outrageous prices of the items that are consumed in the arenas.

Now, do not tell people that their best player is going somewhere, keep Butler, keep Adebayo, Keep Herro and get someone.

I talked to people, that is what they told me.

Hace un año estaba saltando entre finales. Una en Brickell, otra en Sunrise. Este año es solo una y me quejo.

No de que los Panthers estén nuevamente en la Copa Stanley o que en un comportamiento extraño y no inclusivo para los periodistas de habla hispana me hayan dejado fuera este año, mi queja es que el Miami Heat no está en la final esta vez.

• Nos estamos acostumbrando y lo queremos. 
• Sabemos que tenemos buenos jugadores, pero queremos estar ahí.

Déjame resumirlo...

• Tenemos el mejor entrenador posible, incluso hice una tesis doctoral sobre este tema, es genial.
• Tenemos el mejor presidente posible del equipo, lo hemos visto a lo largo de los años.
• Tenemos los mejores dueños posibles, a ellos les gusta estar en la pelea, no como los Marlins, por poner un triste ejemplo.

¿Pero tenemos el mejor equipo posible?

No sé.

Hablaré como aficionado, no como conocedor, como aficionados sabemos que necesitamos un jugador más, un jugador que incline la balanza hacia nosotros. Los expertos, o los que dicen serlo, nos hablan de un sinfín de proyecciones matemáticas, nos explican los "aprons" que en español significa delantales de cocina, y nos lanzan números incomprensibles impuestos al lujo... no entienden que eso no nos importa.

Dennos el mejor equipo posible, ustedes manejan el dinero, después de todo, son multimillonarios y sus empleados, es decir, los jugadores, ganan millones, así que... consigan al mejor jugador, traigánlo aquí y ganen.

Eso es lo que queremos, eso es lo que nos importa.

Eso es lo que hará que la gente pague las entradas, nada baratas, y los precios a veces escandalosos de los artículos que se consumen en los estadios.

Ahora, no le digan a la gente que su mejor jugador se irá a alguna parte, quédense con Butler, quédense con Adebayo, quédense con Herro y consigan a alguien.
